Prof. Shu-Cai Li

Vice President of Shandong University
Geotechnical and Structural Engineering Research Center, Shandong University

Prof. Shu-cai Li is currently the Vice President of Shandong University, the Dean of Civil Engineering School and the Director of Geotechnical and Structural Engineering Research Center, Shandong University. He received his B.S. and M.S. degree from Shandong University of Science and Technology in 1987 and 1990, respectively, and obtained Ph.D. from Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics (IRSM), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 1996.

He received the Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award four times in 2001, 2004, 2011 and 2014, respectively, and obtained a National Program on Key Basic Research Project (Catastrophe mechanism and forecast controlling theory of water inrush and mud gushing in deep large tunnel (No.2013CB036000)) in 2013.

He was elected as the president of Underground Space Sub-Society of Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering (CSRME), the Standing Council of CSRME, and the Vice President of Shandong Province Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering.

He is also the Editor of the Tunnelling and Underground Space Technology, Chinese Journal of Rock Mechanics and Engineering, Chinese Journal of Rock and Soil Mechanics, etc. He mainly engaged in (1) Geophysical techniques for exploration of unfavorable geological and water-bearing structures, (2) Mechanical mechanism of water inrush disaster and its control and treatment technologies, (3) Large-scale geo-mechanics model test and system development, (4) Minimum thickness of rock cover in Cross-Harbour Tunnel, and (5) Stability of fractural rock mass and anchor effect.
